    so the thing about literary representation and why it’s important is because a. we’re a literary society and b. bipoc still continually struggle for representation in every field of society. once you deny a literary character accurate representation in your fanworks (i.e. edits, fanfic, headcanons, etc), you deny them their identity. by doing this, you are telling the real life people that character is based on that they don’t matter, that their experiences and their daily lives don’t matter. 

    you are not immune to racism, even if you’ve read critical race theories or you’re a poc. people of colour are not interchangeable. you don’t whitewash your fancasts or faceclaims. you pick a faceclaim that accurately represents them, or don’t make the edit in the first place. full stop.
